Email
asknvc@state.gov
Type your case number in the subject line and ask about one case per email.
Phone 603-334-0700
Customer service representatives can speak with you Monday through Friday from
7:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight (Eastern Time).
When you contact us we will need this information to answer your questions:
• NVC case number;
• Principal applicant's name and date of birth;
• Petitioner's name;
• If your visa petition is employment based, include the employer's company or organization name instead of the petitioner's information.
Termination of Registration
Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 203(g) provides that the Secretary of State shall terminate the registration (petition) of any alien who fails to apply for an immigrant visa within one year of notice of visa availability. The petition may be reinstated if, within two years of notice of visa availability, the alien establishes that the failure to apply was for reasons beyond the alien's control. Therefore if you do not respond to notices from the National Visa Center within one year you risk termination of your petition under this section of law and would lose the benefits of that petition, such as your priority date.
